A trip up to the Foxfield for their diesel gala. After a few trips and a wander round,we headed off to the Churnet Valley just down the road while we were in the area. Back on the road south, we stopped off at the Gloucester & Warwickshire for a wander round the yard and pub grub with some of the guys. Weather was damp/dull, sadly, but it was still a good day out.
Sat 12th Aug 2006: Great Central Railway
The road home was via the GCR at Loughborough. Nice to see some pleasingly grubby locos at work (along with some clean ones!), and the stations were fantastic period pieces too.

York Station, from the York Eye, and as we passed through on a couple of days, waiting for the Malton train.
Sun 6th Aug 2006 to Thu 10th Aug 2006: North Yorkshire Moors Railway
We spent one day on the NYMR, but also had a quick run up and down when Sir Nigel Gresley was running with the immaculate LNER teak coaches, and a quick run to Whitby and back, so I've lumped everything together in here.
Sat 5th Aug 2006: Midland Railway Centre
Stopped into the MRC on the way to Yorkshire. Didn't get much of a trundle, but did get a good wander around the yards and sheds. Quick thanks to the DMU and class 47 guys for being so friendly. Well worth a return trip.

Sun 4th Dec 2005: Rhymney loco-hauled: Last day.
Just did the one run today (had 'normal' friends down, so couldn't subject them to too much!) behind 50049 and 37411. Well worth it - bumped into a lot of folk, and it was wedgex all round! A lot of folk out and about, so excuse the blurred baw heids...
Sat 12th Nov 2005: Rhymney Tractors
Out fot an all-day bash on the Rhymneys - 405, 411 and 425 were out to play. After a bit of a slow start due to timetable mis-reading, we managed to get a good bit of thrash behind all three. Oh, and Heath High Level station was definately today's 'station of the day'...
Sun 28th Aug 2005: PBR Transport Rally
A few pics from our annual Transport Rally. Sadly not many of the fabulous vehicles on display as I was too busy yard shunting or generally helping keep the wheels in motion. Highlights of the day included 3 trains in service (108 DMU, Thumper, and loco-hauled stock) and the first run of freshly outshopped Hudswell No 1387 on freight.
Sat 27th Aug 2005: Real Trains at Bristol Temple Meads
A couple of real trains at Temple Meads while waiting for the train home: 31's on the Dale Winton Express (aka the Wessex Mk2 set), and a rather graffitied ex Midland HST on a Virgin service.

Many thanks to all atvthe SDR for their hospitality and friendlyness on our fact-finding mission on Wickham Trolleys. :-)
Sun 17th Jul 2005: PBR - the Thumper's First trip

Sun 30th Jan 2005: Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway - 5 locos on shed

Sat 18th Dec 2004: 50s at Cardiff
50031 and 50049 out on a Pathfinders railtour. Despite the rain, it was worth turning up to see. Also, 37411 arrived with a Rhymney service, just to add to the feast of EE traction! :-)

Went back to the bridge I found a few weeks ago, with Ewan to catch some of the ruggexes on saturday morning. Also caught the usual stuff - a few freights and HSTs amongst the units and 37/67 hauled excursions. Miserable weather, and bright liveries :-)

Bit of new camera testing for both myself and Ewan - we took the 90's to N. Berwick, then back to Drem, where we stayed for a wee while, catching what went back and forth. Met Ian and Nick to do the North Berwicks, now they're loco hauled. Then through to Glasgow and up to Dalmuir to catch the Sleeper back to Edinburgh.
